Just back from our Private View and Jill and I are feeling pleased that all the work setting up the Exhibition is over and that the Gallery looks so nice after feeling rather chaotic while we were deciding how to hang the paintings! The afternoon was a happy gathering; it was very enjoyable talking to the artists and our friends and customers. Here are some snaps I took of the artists with their art ~

Joe McIntyre Visit

This afternoon Joe delivered his work for the new exhibition which opens on Sunday the 7th of September. One of the nicest parts of our job is seeing new work when it comes into the Gallery and Jill and I are really excited about the calibre of work for the upcoming show. Joe's use of colour and light is remarkable. Urban scenes: Chicago, London, Berlin and Joe's home turf of Dundee depict cafes, shop windows and streets. Sometimes the streets are deserted and the sunlight and shadows set the mood but in Joe's figurative work keen observation of people and their exchanges transport you to the moment.
Joe also brought Barbara Robertson's lino cuts...I can't wait to unwrap them tomorrow.
