Meet The Artist - Saturday 9th February

LISA HOOPER, Grace, Collograph

We are having a special 'Meet The Artist' event in the gallery on Saturday 9th February between 2pm - 4pm. All welcome.

Printmaker Lisa Hooper will be joining us to talk about all the fascinating printmaking techniques that she uses to create her prints. Lisa will be unveiling a significant body of new work. She always uses the winter months to create new prints, so this is the first time many of them will have been seen.

Drinks will be served and we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.

A lot of the work has arrived in the gallery already and we will be installing a solo show of Lisa's work in the largest room in the gallery, 'Gallery 2'.

See you there!

New Lisa Hooper Printmaking Video

Printmaking with Lisa Hooper from McGill Duncan Gallery on Vimeo.

We've made a second video from our visit to Lisa Hooper's studio last year. Here she is showing some of the different Printmaking techniques that she uses. I loved her studio and seeing all the little objects, books and postcards that she had in it to give her inspiration. Her woodburning stove was so cosy, I could have happily stayed drinking tea and chatting all day.

A January perk

There's not much growing in the garden at the moment but the witch hazel is flowering. The exquisitely scented blossom is one of the few perks of a freezing January.

The branches look fabulous next to Hannah McAndrew's large white on white slip trailed jug.

New Year - Fresh Start!

We weren't very idle on our week off as the gallery has been undergoing a transformation.

'Stage Two' of the new flooring was laid in Gallery 2, the largest room in the gallery. The room has been painted (thanks Roger!) and it's all ready for the installation of the art work. Those of you who knew our old gallery kitchen will see we also have a lovely new black and white floor (spot the dog hiding in the kitchen).

I'll put another photo on the Blog when the room is full of beautiful paintings and ceramics again. It's great to start the New Year with the smell of fresh paint and and some pristine new flooring!
