Painting in Progress

The gallery painting is in progress this week. No rain so far thankfully! The colours are looking good and decorator Gordon Neil is doing a grand job.

We took down our sign and you can now see the shop lettering for 'Granny's' (from the 1970's) that we are preserving under the McGill Duncan Sign.

Granny's was a Biba style clothes boutique with black walls and ceilings. The building was then bought by Niall McGill Duncan and became a picture framing company. Niall held his first exhibition in 1978, and it became McGill Duncan Gallery. We have a long history behind us.

That's areally interesting to hear more about the hisotry of the building, and so cool that you're preserving the old sign under yours! Have you got any photographs from when it was a boutique?

I don't have any Granny's photos I'm afraid. We had to paint out some of the black ceilings when we bought the building!
